When you say “won’t turn over” I presume you mean with the starter. For temps below freezing I recommend 10W-30 or even lighter (5W-20) for below 0 F. I would also suggest a tank heater, and/or a magnetic heater for the oil pan. All will help the engine turn over. Of course this already presumes that you have a good battery with adequate amperage, clean battery connections, adequate sized battery cables (00 for six volt 2 for twelve volt), and clean metal to metal contact on the starter nose, field housing, and brush end plate.
