Our 1957 350ute gas was 6 pos. ground. There were many Letter and XX0 diesel tractors with 12 v pos ground factory generator systems. I don't know why IH kept the 6v on the gas units. It seems like a mediocre idea. A nice original looking system uses 12v pos ground generator/reg. (I like alternators they are near maintenance free and top up the battery well). My 2 cents JimN

Memories of an IH Super A When I was ? up to 10, I worked on my Papaw's farm in Greeneville, TN every summer. As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor.
