WHy on earth do you think there's a relationship between model numbers and horsepower? There really isn't as such, other than the bigger first numbers mean a bigger tractor. For instance: 404 is a smaller tractor than a 504. Both are in the 04 family- four cylinder tractors in the early 1960s. 706 is smaller than an 806, but bigger than a 504. 706 and 806 are in the 06 family from the mid 1960s. A 1206 is the same size as an 806, but turbocharged with quite a bit more HP, so IH just kinda fudged a 12 as being roughly the appropriate jump up. No science to it.
