My turn to vent O/T

So I reply to a question asked by a potential ebay bidder, I get this reply

To control spam, I now allow incoming messages only from senders I have approved beforehand.
If you would like to be added to my list of approved senders, please fill out the short request form (see link below). Once I approve you, I will receive your original message in my inbox. You do not need to resend your message. I apologize for this one-time inconvenience.
And then another one that tics me off is when you call someone to return a call and you get a message that you must leave your number to be "approved"
If people want to live in a box that's fine. I'll stay out of their box.
