You could run a compression check on the cylinders
to see what your readings are. Low compression
is good indication of worn cylinders, rings and valves not seating. What shape is the battery,
battery cables and ignition? Pull out the coil
wire from the cap and have someone attempt a start using the starter with the ignition on

When we had an H we didn't give it much choke when starting.
