My 1948 MD had 12v system. If you are going to 12 v and want a no fuss solution use a aingle wire alternator. My preference is for Mitsubichi Units They are small diameter and pose less mounting restrictions, and more belt adjustment. If it original look that is needed M generators should be out there due to the number of MD changeovers to alt systems.
