No, all they did to the rear end was put in a new PTO input gear on the front of it and go thru the brakes (which I still don't like, by the way..they squawk at times).

It is definetly not right because they shouldn't "whine" like that, or at least not this loud.

Your thoughts on the "chewed up gears" makes a lot of sense and sure would explain this noise. That is exactly what it sounds like. Beat up teeth.

I think I'm gonna put it in the field this fall and then park it back in the shop for a complete new set of bearings and all the gears this winter. They tell me that the way they are set up from the get-go will determine their life span.

Was just hoping that maybe it was rust build up from setting so long in the shed. Probably not tho. :>(
