Ouch, that doesn't sound good! Are you sure that the rod cap is torqued up properly? Did you change out the timing gears? I've heard them clack. It could be in the valve train- if so it would clack at one half of engine speed (700 clacks per min. at 1400 engine rpm). Wrist pin? Just thinking aloud here. What was all done in the rebuild? All new bearings? I once had an oil pump driven gear crack and started to clack after a rebuild. I don't know about the glow plugs. Are you sure that the switch isn't sticking and keeping them on too long? What tractor is this in? More info would be helpful- keep us posted. Paul
