"went to drop the bucket to the ground. Nothing happened" I would think the loader should lower by gravity. Maybe valve problem. Did you hear sqealing, like relief valve bleeding off? Pumps usually die a slow death, unless the drive fails or something goes through them. Before you buy a pump, I'd look into a lot of other things that could go wrong. My tractor has unloading valves, cushion vlaves etc which will keep you from making pressure. I beleive the remote spools sticking will cause similar symptoms also.
