Guys,
Looks like I got some more information from my uncles on the 350. It appears that not only do the front loader and the 2pt. not work, the power steering is out to. This leads me to the obvious resolution that the hydraulic pump is out. My questions now are, 1. how much should I expect to pay for a new one? 2. where do I get one? (steel wheel ranch?) 3. how difficult is this going to be? Evan350 was extremely helpful in getting me to this point. I appreciate the help he has offered. I am hoping I can get a little more help in pointing me in the right direction. Thanks

There is a possibility that the gear that drives the pump sheared the key on the shaft, or stripped the teeth too. Just something else to check. I had an MTA once that stripped the teeth on the gear, it had a loader on it too...Puts more strain on the gear and pump.

you said in your previous post that the 350 was parted.did you drain the reservoir? on my 350 anytime the reservoir was empty, the pump would air lock.with the engine running, loosen the pressure hose nut at the pump,to let the air out.

I agree with twopop--check for air lock. However, be careful loosening the nut when the tractor is running. If the pump should be pumping, the oil may shoot out at high pressure. (If all the handles are centered there shouldn't be much pressure, but I'd still wear gloves and goggles just to be safer.) By the way, is your 350 a Farmall or Utility? The breather location I mentioned previously is for the Farmall. I'm not familiar with the Ute, but I think its under the seat. Also, I don't have power steering, so I don't know how its plumbed or where the splitter is.

The pump actually quit running before we drained the fluid. We actually drained the fluid so we could clean the filter. We knew it needed it. It was interesting how this all came about. My uncle used the tractor and it worked correctly up until he went to park it. He pulled up in the ususal parking spot and went to drop the bucket to the ground. Nothing happened. It is like the pump went out all of the sudden. Not sure where to go from here. It appears the pump is completely out, but dont know how to trouble shoot it. Ken(IL)

"went to drop the bucket to the ground. Nothing happened"

I would think the loader should lower by gravity. Maybe valve problem. Did you hear sqealing, like relief valve bleeding off? Pumps usually die a slow death, unless the drive fails or something goes through them. Before you buy a pump, I'd look into a lot of other things that could go wrong. My tractor has unloading valves, cushion vlaves etc which will keep you from making pressure. I beleive the remote spools sticking will cause similar symptoms also.

Well, you can either sit around scratching your head or you can start taking things apart. You suspect that the pump is the problem... Why not start there? Pull the pump and see what's happening.

Is this a utility or a Farmall? If the pump wasn't turning on a Farmall 350, the engine wouldn't run because the distributor is driven off the pump. I don't know much about utilities, but I have seen many 300/350 utilities with a pump mounted on the front of the tractor, driven off the crankshaft.

Guys,
I really appreciate the input. The tractor is a standard 350 Row Crop with a wide front. It has 3 remotes, PS, and 2pt fast hitch on the hydraulics. I will try to get out to it maybe even tomorrow. I am just trying to find a starting point. I hate to tear the pump off if it is not the problem. I will check the breather and see what happens there. Is there anything else I can do short of pulling the pump off? Thanks again.
