I had the same problem with my super M while I was rebuilding her, I used a metal chop saw to recut the notches in the upper plate, then I also took the small bolt out of the throttle lever,(the part that goes into the notches) welded it back up to where it should have been, then filed it back to a rectangular shape, took all of 15 min.... good luck jack
