I bought this tractor about 2 months ago. I tried to start it yesterday and it wouldn"t fire. I did all the ususal things, points, condenser etc. I noticed that the coil seemed to be putting out a weak spark. The coil looked like it had been recently replaced. I decided to replace it anyway. When I got it removed from under the holder, it showed that it was a 6 volt coil. I was told by the IH/Case dealership that the tractor used a 6 volt coil with a resistor? I replaced the coil with a 12 volt, and the tractor runs like its spose to. Is it ok to leave the 12 volt coil on the tractor? If this tractor is spose to have a 6 volt coil, WHAT THE HELL WAS IH THINKING?
