Ticking sound in the rear end on my 44 H?

Folks. My 44 H starts so easily now it isn't even funny. Now imagine this. I live in Manassas, Virginia in suburbia single family detached homes on .25 acre lots. I fired up the tractor hollared for the wife to come out and get on the back and we made the first voyage on the tractor up and back about 4-6 street blocks. The goal was to deliver a case of beer in the front end loader to a neighbor 3 blocks up from our house. This goal was successfull. The wife decided to stay and talk to the neighbors, so I drove it back to the house. However, here is the reason for my post.

After I started the tractor I noticed a metalic clanking sound in the rear end of the tractor. This was after I pulled it up onto our driveway. It was out of gear with the brakes locked on. I was letting it warm up until we were ready to go drive it. I crawled around the rear of the tractor, and the sound seemed to be coming just in front of the brake band area, but on the inside of tractor. I am not sure if I could hear the sound while I was driving the tractor, but I don't think I could hear anything over the roar of the motor anyway. What do you guys think it might be? The sound also sounds like the rain cap on the muffler when the cap raises up and hits the muffler, sorda like that.

I don't think it is a terminal issue since the tractor still drove great. I also have no way of just taking the rear end apart to find the problem. So what do you think I should start looking for based on my analysis? Thanks.
