The thing that you are going to need to check is if the entire electrical system was converted to 12v or is it still 6v (ie. why did it have a 12v battery?). If 6v then why is it negative ground instead of the original positive ground. If it has a ballast resistor or a 12v coil then it has been converted to 12v. You may want to get either the original H wiring diagram or look at the 12v conversion diagram that Bob M did such an excellent job drawing.
