We always shutoff the gas at the carburetor. A full tank of gas weighs a good bit and the only thing holding that gas from draining out on the ground is the float needle valve. Any rust or dirt can keep this from closing. When the float
raises it will shut off the gas into the carb.
Any leakage around that needle valve the fuel will
just keep running out. Any holes in that float that has been known to happen can cause the gas to drain too.

You should check that hydraulic oil level and install a gauge to check the pressure. You may have lost another o-ring. Hal
