My opinion on this is that if they are in the parts book, they are correct. Without looking those items up (they are both in my parts books), there is usually no serial number break, and no real way of knowing if they came on the tractor or not, unless like your neighbor, someone actually remembers. I don't believe either of them were available for the very early tractors, but were produced later, I could be wrong.
