My Super M is fitted with high compression pistons. Found it nearly impossible to crank over on 6 volts, even with a fresh battery, good starter and the right cables. But on 12 volts it tips over and lights off every time, even after sitting for days in sub zero temperatures. When I opened the starter the other night, the armature was stamped "rebuilt 6/65". That means the 6 volts starter worked for 24+ years on 12 volts with only the brushes finally wearing out.
