J Smith: Your post does create a bit of confusion, First as Peabody said P does stand for 1946 if that indeed is the casting code. Casting codes are the series of numbers and letter with what looks like a round head blade type screw cast between the digits. The day and month are by number year is by letter. The reason I question his statment is, you have hole in block for hydraulic pump shaft. The torque tube has about 6" wide flat surface from battery to bell housing. The number behind the oil filter 354898 R1 is the casting part number used only on Super A's from serial number 310000 to serial 357958. I have a Super A in this group. Am I correct in assuming all these items. Another factor casting codes are in numerals and letter about 3/8" high. This letter P you speak of I'm guessing is about 3/4" high letter, right or wrong? I think we can get to the bottom of this, confirm or deny what I'm saying.
