J Smith: The flat area you mentioned on top of torque tube, runs from battery to almost bell housing, with 4 threaded holes for 1/2 bolts about 6 to 8 inches apart both ways, right or wrong? If that be the case those threaded hole are used to bolt the touch control down. If you have a block with holes for mounting pump, no reason you cant put factory hydraulics on. I gather from this discussion you don't currently have hydraulics. If you wish I can check my tractor in morning to see exactly where those casting codes are. I know the one on engine is very close to part number you supplied, maybe a bit closer to distributor. I know one of my tractors have code on torque tube, almost behind clutch pedal when depressed. Not sure IH always used the same spot, just never kept close notice of that. Sounds as though you found yourself a decent buy. I always say if a A or SA has good castings and sheet metal, there is good chance it was quite well cared for. Of course when you start restoring it all costs money, and I haven't done any recently, so maybe a bit out of touch on prices. To me it just never seemed like one was getting good value for money when he started buying castings or sheet metal.
