Phillip, The "C" had a plate rivited to the right side of the tool box under the seat which had the serial number stamped on it. Biggest problem there is that IH may have well rivited it to the clutch pedal, as they did get scuffed up a lot and are a bear to read after 50 odd years. The H and M had a plate on the left side of the clutch housing. If you dont find a plate, then take Cowman"s advice and start looking for that machined surface on the engine, which by the way, may not look so smooth if it has a bunch of paint or curd built up. Nevertheless, there is one, and there should be a stamped number once you get past said paint and crud.
