I have a Farmall tractor but cannot find a serial number on it. I want to know what kind of tractor it is. I think is might be a C.

I have a Farmall which I believe might be a 200. The serial number on the left side of the clutch housing is 5900 J. The engine is embossed C123. There is also the number 11347 stamped on the engine. Can anyone pin point the year for me or add some detail? Thanks Dave

I'm still working on the H and M identification, but here's a chart that might help. I haven't distinguished the Super series yet, but will in the future.

Accoring to the chart it sounds like a C in reply to Matt, 02-26-2005 10:48:32
Would it be a C or Super C? Or could it possibly be a 200?

Well, it could be a 200 or a Super C. Are the pedals curved or straight? if curved, they are a Super C. The 200 is in essence a Super C with different sheet metal. What does the grill look like? Two sections of horizontal slits or two vertical slits in the middle, and two sections horizontal on the outside?

It has the two vertical slits in the middle in reply to Matt, 02-26-2005 17:54:07
It has the two vertical slits in the middle and on each side it has 2 (horizontal) space 6 (horizontial) space and 2 more (horizontal). Does this make any sense?

This makes perfect sense, and if the grill is original, it means your tractor is a 200.

Now what is the difference? in reply to Matt, 02-26-2005 18:06:10
What is the difference in a Super C and a 200? How do I find out what year it is?

I am pretty sure the main difference between a Super C and a 200 is just in the sheet metal. I think that is the only difference. Someone on here should be able to give you the year with the numbers you gave, even without a serial number.

Thanks for all the help! in reply to Matt, 02-26-2005 18:13:06
If anyone else can help me find out what year it was made with the numbers I listed, please do! I appreciate all help! This tractor was my wife's great uncle's who has now passed on he had sold it to a neighbor and I just recently bought it from him. He doesn't know much about it.

Phillip, From reading your thread with Matt, I do believe you have a 200, as you describe a 200 grill. They were made in 1955 and 1956. The 230 whech followed in 1957 had the same grill, but the insert was painted white along with a white panel on each side of the hood. The 200 and 230 also had metal model number and hood emblems rather than decals of the C and super C.

Phillip, The "C" had a plate rivited to the right side of the tool box under the seat which had the serial number stamped on it. Biggest problem there is that IH may have well rivited it to the clutch pedal, as they did get scuffed up a lot and are a bear to read after 50 odd years. The H and M had a plate on the left side of the clutch housing. If you dont find a plate, then take Cowman"s advice and start looking for that machined surface on the engine, which by the way, may not look so smooth if it has a bunch of paint or curd built up. Nevertheless, there is one, and there should be a stamped number once you get past said paint and crud.

I have numbers every where, but still cannot figure out what the tractor is.

The one on top of the differential plate is:
351132-R2

The number on the side of the differential is:
355986-R1

The number on the brake housing is:
355969-R1

Phillip, this must be frustrating but we can work through this. From the numbers in your post I find only two of them listed in my Super C parts catalog. I do not have a catalog for the model 200 so don't know if they are all common to that model or not. On what you call the differential plate (which most of us refer to as the platform or transmission cover) there should be a date code cast right next to the cover part number. It will appear as two digits (month and day) and a letter which is a code for the year it was cast. If you can provide that code letter we can determine if the part was made for a Super C or for the 200 which followed the Super C production run. Also if you can provide a picture I can most likely tell what model it is. I have left my email open if you want to send it directly along with the code letter. I hope you enjoy your first Farmall - I grew up with these letter series Farmalls as a kid on the farm and got to see them new and right off the truck when delivered to the farm. Also saw flat car loads of them on the railroad going through town. Hal

Phillip, All the numbers you list are casting part numbers, not serial numbers. I dont have a parts manual for anything but an early A, so I cant help you match casting numbers to a particulat model. You may try taking those numbers to a dealer and have them look them up for you. It would be best if you know which part each number came from such as, axle, engine block, transmission housing, clutch housing. I still can"t guarantee you any success, unless the fellow behind the parts counter is somewhat familliar with older models, but it is worth a try.

scrape around on the engine and see if you can find a flat spot milled off with a number stamped in it. C engine numbers begin FCM.....

It would be helpful if you'd describe it beyond "a Farmall tractor."

You can also go through the photo archives and find a tractor that looks like yours.

I have looked at pictures of other tractors and mine looks like a Super C. But, someone had put a 200 emblem on it. Could it be a 200? I could send you a picture of it.
