i have a 350 diesel and love it i did a motor job on it and yes parts wernt cheap but have you priced out a rebuild on any other diesel???? i got all my parts through the local auto parts store as i do for all my engine work its hard to justify paying the extra at the case ih dealer
mine still starts alittle hard when temp drops but mainly becouse the old starter doesnt wip the engine over very quick if you roll it down a hill or tow it the old girl fires right up so im tring to find a high speed starter that will work
it has plenty of power for a small tractor i pull 3 14 inch plows with it 489 haybine 269 baler with 9x20 rack with ease and it is very easy on fuel
the biggest drawback it the tranny the old ih trannys have qite big jump between fourth and fifth gear and thats only a problem when pulling wagons up the road but the ta makes it much easier
