1) If you plan to put a suction line strainer between the Liftall housing and the pump, you don't need the nipple to trap debris in the sump. You want it going to the filter to be eventually eliminated at filter change time. Besides, you're only letting sediment rob you of precious capacity. 2) Sounds good. 3) You didn't mention the type or capacity of your live pump. You would do well to use an open centered valve so you have constant flow and minimal heat buildup. It should have a built-in pressure relief valve and should be set to protect your pump. If you get a closed centered valve, your relief valve will operate constantly when not raising or lowering your implements, putting a major strain on the entire system. 4) Yes, you can leave the liftall intact but it sort of defeats the purpose of adding a live pump. I recommend gutting the housing and making a plate and gasket to cover the opening. It will give more capacity to your system. 5) A suction filter is recommended to extend the life of your pump. Replaceable element (spin-on) filters are preferred over the screen type.
