You probably have the 25 degree gear (newer gear) against the older drive gear. On later 66 series many of the gears in the transmission were changed to 25 degree. The 25 degree pump gear was used with a mcv spacer to compensate for the larger drive gear. Also there are two different thickness mcv gskts. I never had any trouble using the thinner one when there was over a thousand hrs. on the tractor.
