Your problem is a worn out seal on the tranny shaft. And you gotta unscrew the drive coupler from the end of the transmission shaft to get the retainer and seal off. The coupler is threaded onto the shaft extension with standard right hand threads. To unscrew it engage the PTO clutch, then grab the PTO shaft with a pipe wrench to keep it from turning. Then take another pipe wrench and grab the coupler - or stick a suitable piece of bar stock in the coupler slot - and go at it. It'll probably be difficult to get the coupler broken free, but once it starts it'll spin easily off the threaded end of the tranny shaft. Once you get the retainer and old seal out, replacing the seal is a simple matter. Note that a new seal will likely be only about 1/2 as thick as the original one. However the new thinner seal will work fine.
