I also have a Carter carb on a Super A and am having lots of trouble with it overflowing (see board entry 1/5/05). I have always heard that the gap between the float and the upper housing as you hold it upside down should be uniform across. It seem that 1/4" would be huge, although what do I know. My Super A WAS running pretty well before it started to run rough and then not start. All electronics have been replaces so the flooding out the hole in bottom of carb in air intake side looks very suspicious, but I can't stop it.
