Go ahead and buy the books, along with what Cliff recommends. I have the ones you mention, seldom use them, but rely on the IH manuals all the time. Such books are interesting reading, but with the exception of Guy Fay's excellent books, mostly just make money for the publisher, and to a lesser extent, the author. Of the ones you mentioned the engine repair book is probably the best, perhaps because I'm not a mechanic.
