Is the weld on the cap there to hold in the dipstick (which is part of the cap unit)? The vent hole on a 300U is located elsewhere on the lid. Also, the fluid level shouldn't be high enough to cause a leak through the seat mounting bolts if they go all the way through. I've had the lid on mine off and can't remember how deep they were. Hope this helps.
