Try connecting the 12v battery directly to the starter. If it starts, quickly disconnect the 12v. If it keeps running, take it to the house.

You can't leave the 12v hooked up with the 6v generator. If you run the engine with 12v you need a ballast resistor on the switch lead to the coil.
