Allan, No need to take the cover off the tranny. To get to the seal, remove the slotted drive by unscrewing it using a bar that will fit in the slot or, do it the way I did, take a pipe wrench to it. Make sure the tractor is in gear and braks locked to accomplish this. Once that drive is out of the way, remove the three bolts holding the seal holder in place. Drive the old seal out, put the new one in and replace the holder, making sure that the word "TOP" is at the top. Screw the slotted dog back un and you"re good to go. HTH. Larry
