The regulator can be mounted anywhere on the tractor chassis, so long as it's wired correctly, and is grounded. The mounting bolt area needs to be clean and free of rust or paint. If the regulator is mounted with rubber strips or grommets, there is a grounding pigtail or strap that jumpers around the rubber mount to ground the regulator. It is imperative that this ground conductor be present and in good condition for the system to operate.
