I learned the hard way also on a carb off of my 66 Oliver RC; first tried to remove it, took the grove off, then proceeded to attempt to drill it, 2nd wrong move! The sad thing about it was this was a carb I had purchased to replace the original which was cracked. Needless to say, every carb from then on, just blew it out with carb cleaner--has worked every time so far! Just my two cents.
