On page 69 of the operators manual the illustration 84 says the timing mark on the crank pulley is for TDC. Hook up a timing light and set the timing to TDC using that mark. Advance or retard as required for best running but you can use your light as a guide. I would look for some advance as long as it starts OK and assuming there is no advance mechanism in the distributor. I cannot see anthing in the manual that tells me there is an advance mechanism in the distributor (under the points mounting plate) It is likely a fixed distributor (no advance). If it does have an advance mechanism, just set timing to TDC. If you don't have a timing light do a static timing with a test light across the points. Light should light just as the points break, as timing mark on crank pulley meets pointer. The timing, after all is said and done, is not extremely critical. A few degrees this way or that will not likely be noticeable.
