Mowr, I've been pondering over the best timing for the 354 gas...The manual says to set the points to .003 past opening with the pointer at the "notch" on the pulley. Then it says to advance or retard as needed and judge by the smoothness of the engine. It doesn't say if the notch is TDC or some degree of advance. It seems to me that with today's advanced timing tools there is a better method for optimal timing. Maximum fuel efficiency is largly dependent on correct timing and the 354 gas engine uses too much fuel not to have it at it's peak. I'd appreciate any tips on optimizing the timing. Thanks, Gene
