do you pull the pto lever all the way back until it locks? It should lock in the engaged position until you pull it again and push the button on the top to release it and lock it back in the off position. I just got mine recently and am still learning the little tricks to making it run but at least i got the manuals with it. I hardly use the ta so i dont know if it matters if on all the time. watch for pressure in the gas tank if it runs poorly on starting, like out of gas, took me a long time to figure out that the gas cap had to be loosened and retightened to relieve the pressure then runs great other wise starves out.
