If ATF doesn't clean the injectors, I would go ahead a pull them and check out the spray pattern. Do you know anyone that has a test rig? If so you can test each one for pattern and also set the injector timing at the same time. If any show a poor pattern or "dribbling", you can tear them down and clean the nozzles with the right size wire. Soak them in clean diesel fuel a few days too. I haven't done that particular model but I've done Ford and Perkins injectors and its a fairly easy job. If nothing else you'll eliminate the injectors as being the problem area once and for all.
