Friend bought a new electric air compressor the other day. It says 6 HP on the motor, however the current requirements and the CFM of the compressor are almost exactly the same as his old compressor which says 2 HP on it. I don't think we are getting the specs to correctly compare things.

The moral is that the manufacturers have found that in confusion there is opportunity for increased profit. In sales it is all about perception not facts.
