John Deere belly mower on a Super C

I have a Super C and am looking for a belly mower. A feller
called and said he had an older JD belly mower for sale. Didn"t
no the serial # but said it had some kind of a gear box that
attached to the pto and hung down to pick up the belt from the
deck. Anybody know if this would work on my Super C? Would
appreciate some ideas before I drive down to bargain. Wants
