Run a compression check before you tear into the engine. The tractor starts and idles great - sounds like the engine is in good shape.

Like the others, my guess is it's a fuel problem. Check the vent on the gas cap. Run the tractor with the gas cap off or swap gas caps. Air cleaner. Pull the hose from the air cleaner to the carburator. Could be the air cleaner is plugged.

I had a tractor that wouldn't run up hill. Took me a long while to figure out that the fuel tank outlet was on the up hill side and that the reserve on the sediment bowl was blocked.
