Manifold fix

Anyone have any creative ideas on repairing a SH manifold with the threads for the exhaust pipe gone? The manifold is in excellent shape otherwise. I'd rather not weld it. I'm thinking about machining a thin ring with new threads, boring a larger hole in the manifold and pressing the ring in. Anyone ever try this??
