Suggestion:

Since this is a 4-H project, tell you club leader that you are having problems with your "H". Since this is a 4-H group at least one of the parents is mechanically inclined. Ask for help.

Second suggestion: Once you are in contact with the person designated to help, explain the problem, then keep you mouth shut.

I've read and reread you post. You keep hitting on the carb. There are other things that can affect the engine's operation.

Sorry, just old, I was a kid once. I use to know everything, now I know nothing.
