The 300 Utility is a TOUGH little tractor. We used to have one, and the worst feature of ours was no power steering. Loader work with it was a chore!

As mentioned in another post below, 3pt hitches are available. If you have a 3pt, consider putting a blade on the back. Not only will that add weight where you need it most, but allow you to clean up what the loader doesn't move easily.

I've had some experience with one of these tractors in snow.... and you are DEFINITELY gonna need weight on the back end! I'm also wondering if you may have over-built that loader to a size that will make the rear of your tractor VERY light whenever you try to lift a big chunk of snow. I hope your snow up there is a lot drier than what we usually get in Indiana!

Chains will help a lot, but if you plant that loader in a big pile of snow and then lift it, the back of the tractor is going to be very light. Ours had a standard drawbar, and I used to put on an extension, then stack wheelweights from an M on top of the drawbar and bolt them in place to the extension. I've also put on some 3' lengths of RR iron at times.

Sooner or later you're going to get the urge to put that tractor in 4th gear, get it moving at top speed, and slam into a drift to break through. That will work better than you might think, but it may also result in landing your tractor up on a pile of snow. There isn't a lot of clearance under these, so you can get it stuck pretty easily. Pack a shovel. Lots of luck, and let us know how it works!!

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
