Nancy: Welcome to the Forum and to the Cub Family ! :-) 49 Cubber is correct, it is a 1971 Cub. Also, the J indicates a Rockford clutch versus and Auburn clutch and was used primarily to indicate which type clutch without splitting the tractor. This tractor is definitely not a Cub Cadet. Also, take BigDog's advice, and visit the only Forum on the net that is dedicated to McCormick-Deering/International Farmall Cubs. You can use the link below to get to the manual server and the link for that forum is on the main page. Also, you can click the link for the ATIS Cub FAQ's which is also on the main page, which has a lot of info and section 13 of the first FAQ's has the serial number list. You can compare your Cub with the pics there and confirm year by the serial number. Again, welcome, I am sure that you will enjoy your new Cub immensely. Don't be surprised though if you get bit by the bug and start looking for another one... lots of us have 2 or more!
