I probably put about 100 hours into seeing what kinds of numbers and photography was available- it was far from being a book, it was just seeing what the project would look like, and whether it was feasible. To answer Hugh's question, I'm pretty sure I'm within a hundred with that number, unless there were some factories I missed. I had pretty good data by then on the French, German, British, and Aussie models. There were a few Canadian models that a lot of folks miss. One worry was crawler variation- I'm not as solid on crawler knowledge as I should be. I think I got the totality of the models made in the Philipenes (basically German tractors assembled there with some interesting variations). I think I pretty much have the Saltillo works. Spain's a bit of a mystery, as is Brazil.
