M, oil Filter

Changing engine oil on my recently aquired M. Removed a metal clad filter, WIX 51155. Parts guy sold me a non - WIZ paper filter that is same length, but smaler diameter. The ports on each end are not as large as the WIX filer. I am planning on trying to find the WIX tomorrow, or is this paper one ok.
