S designation on H and M tractors

I would like to clear something up once and for all especially at tractor shows and such. according to all of my books IH only made super tractors from 1952 thru till the hundred series but I see a lot of people showing serial number plates with the S prefix ahead of M or H and we had a 51 M and it had a lot of feature that were a forerunner of the super that some of those tractors didn't have. I see alot of exhibitors that have Super stickers on their decals and it rubs me the wrong way. I see alot of the old seats and the old style front wheel castings. Help me out here.
