I've been thinking the exact same idea. I, too, have a 1951 M. Mine has a front loader, and the stalk mounted lights reflect wrong off the back of the bucket. So, I wanted the 656 fenders with the twin headlights to avoid this problem. See an earlier post of mine about a pointless question regarding fenders. :-) I have been told that the 656 FlatTops have the same bolt patterns as the M and H fenders. These fenders were reported to be on the '06 tractors and the '56 tractors from about 1966 or 1965 up into the 1970's. This is all stuff I picked up off this site, so I can't vouch for the quality of the information. Rest assured, the next time I visit my in-laws in Iowa, I'll be hunting a pair of these fenders. :-) As to the purists, I like what one person said to my post: if it makes a working tractor safer, purism don't matter. Also remember, farmers have been modifying their tractors since the first ones rolled off the line. Its part of our culture. There aren't too many purists around, and most folk on this board are great folk either way.

Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o
