RAS; All the distributors you listed, while similar, have quite a few differences. The MD distributors turn opposite rotation to the gas dist, and has the smallest spark advance of 8degrees. The cubs have a 16 degree advance with a spring package of 358107R91 and an I.H. part number(for the complete dist.) of #353893R91. H-M's have 40-D advance SH/SM/A/B/C/SC have 30-D advance then the number series ended up with 22-D advance in the 4 cylinder distributors. These are the most basic differences with there being many other combinations of spring packages to spark advances. While you may get some distributors to interchange with other applications you will end up having problems more often than not. For example, a customer had problems with one of my rebuilt dist and upon inspection I found I had used a CUB dist shaft(with spark advance of 16 degrees) when he had a 504 which needs a shaft for 20 degree advance. The tractor ran but barely.
