Looking for a 353898R1 distributor for my 184 Low Boy. I took my distributor apart and it's all seized up. The cover over the weights is all twisted for some reasons. I believe this distributor was also used on Cub 154, 184, 185 & farmall cub. Any help in finding one would be appreciated.

Thanks, Pierre

The number you game is a 353898R11 and this is just the housing. A new distributor assy # is 107297C91 price is about 385.00. You can order this from CASE/IH. It fits A,AV,B,BN,C,H,HV,M,MD 154, 184, 185, 200, 230, 2404, 2424, 2504, 300 , 340, 350, 400, 404, 424, 450, 504 So you should be able to find one. Hope this helps.

RAS;

All the distributors you listed, while similar, have quite a few differences. The MD distributors turn opposite rotation to the gas dist, and has the smallest spark advance of 8degrees. The cubs have a 16 degree advance with a spring package of 358107R91 and an I.H. part number(for the complete dist.) of #353893R91. H-M's have 40-D advance SH/SM/A/B/C/SC have 30-D advance then the number series ended up with 22-D advance in the 4 cylinder distributors. These are the most basic differences with there being many other combinations of spring packages to spark advances.
While you may get some distributors to interchange with other applications you will end up having problems more often than not. For example, a customer had problems with one of my rebuilt dist and upon inspection I found I had used a CUB dist shaft(with spark advance of 16 degrees) when he had a 504 which needs a shaft for 20 degree advance. The tractor ran but barely.

Hi:

I just came across a brand new 353898r1. It's in a box that shipped in 1955. The other number on it is HF6-922388. Comes with coil, cap, points, condenser, etc.

Anyone interested or can you tell me what it fits?

Thanks!

Bob
