Clutch linkage problem

My clutch pedal on my superC does nothing when I push it in. Have to start her in gear to move anywhere. The clutch itsself is about a week old, and it did this before the clutch was replaced as well. Our mechanic welded something on the clutch plate and it fixed it until now. He never really told us what he did... What could this problem be? We are waiting on diagrams from the manual to try and figure out where in the linkage the problem lies. Thx!
